The Women's Enrichment Center is a collectively-run education project. We are seeking ways for women to regain collective and individual control of the éducational process and power to shape the intellectual life of our time to our needs. Our goal is to facilitate ongoing education for women which is widely available, informal, and closer to the needs of the participants. Our focus is to provide a supportive learning atmosphere in which women can develop themselves. As such, the Women's Enrichment Center offers an alternative to the conventional system of education.

Courses are led by women who see themselves to be qualified by life-experience and/or academic experience. Groups are open to all women regardless of age, race, or education. The Women's Enrichment Center was established by a group of politically active feminists who believe that this idea should expand the learning experience of women in the Greater Cleveland Area.

It is difficult to read these accounts without a sense of alarm and disbelief. It is all the more frightening to know that there is a world-wide pattern of human rights abuses against hundreds of thousands of people on the basis of their beliefs, color, sex, ethnic origin, language or religon-people who have not used or advocated violence.

Factual information is one of the most powerful tools for bringing about change in society, By getting the facts-publicized in our own country, and by continuing to let each offending government know that we are watching them and that what they are doing is contrary to internationally recognized human rights standards. we have a chance for bringing about a more humane-world.
